Overview The YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) hostel is popular with young travelers and backpackers. Officially opened in February 1911, the old YMCA building was used as the Kempeitai (Japanese secret police) headquarters during World War II. In the early 1980s, the premises was rebuilt and the new YMCA building was consecrated in 1984. The YMCA International House Singapore lies smack in the centre of the Singapore hotel district between Orchard Road and Raffles City hotel belts. Non YMCA members will have to pay a temporary membership fee of S$3.15 nett per person, in addition to the Room rate. * Please note that the swimming pool at YMCA International House Singapore is closed for renovation from 12 December 2008 until further notice.
